The National Commission for Civic Education(NCCE) is a Government Institution which mandate is to educate people on policies of government, roles, rights and responsibilities in the country. The NCCE in the Sagnarigu Municipality have been educating the general public on prevalence of the Corona Virus(Covid-19) in the country and in the world at large.
The organization used street announcement, engagement of communities, lobbying chiefs and elders among other strategies.
ABDULAI SUALE, MUNICIPAL DIRECTOR SAGNARIGU NCCE
Mr. Abdulai Suale the Municipal Director of the NCCE spoke to some members the Municipal COVID-19 committee over the week ends. He underscored the need for all, to observe the Covid-19 protocols directed by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo.
The key among the protocols are;
Currently all public gatherings should not exceed 200people
1meter distance to every person in all public gatherings
Wear face/nose mask when leaving home
Washing hands continuously with soap under running water.
Sneeze, and cough in tissues and dispose in a bin.
Eat lots of vegetables and fruits to boost your immune system
Mr. Abdulai Suale observed that, the mode of transmission of the virus is through:
Droplets of fluid such as saliva from an infected person. That is: to say,
Coughing and sneezing. Among other symptoms of the virus are dry and
Continues cough, sneezing, fever, sore throat, loss of smell, general disease
Attributed to poor hygienic condition, he added.
The NCCE Director used the opportunity to advised the General public against the stigmatization of infected and affected victims of the pandemic. He added that, stigmatization discourages people who show Covid-19 symptoms from reporting to hospitals and indirectly spread the disease infestation. Mr. Suale stated that, let’s us show love to recovered Covid-19 patients. Stigmatization causes embarrassment to people and persons affected. Let’s empathize with people who unfortunately get Covid-19 & recovered.
To conclude, Mr Suale mentioned that, the educational and street announcements were done with support from Government of Ghana and the Covid-19 National Trust Fund. The educational campaigns were in collaboration with the Municipal Assembly, Mr. Ali Fataw (MIS) and the Information Service Department. Communities within the Sagnarigu Municipality visited includes: Changnaayili, Gareziegu, Namgbagu, NamgbaguYapala, Nyenshegu, Sheshegu, Abatoir, Gbamyani. Others are Islamic Senior High School, Northern School of Business, Tamale Senior High, Bagabaga College of Education, Tamale College of Education, Tamale Technical University.
